Terms and Conditions

Last Updated: October 1, 2026

These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the United States Service Dogs website, including https://unitedstatesservicedogs.org/, and any related products, services, registration resources, educational materials, customer support, and other services we make available through the website (collectively, the “Services”).

By accessing or using our website, creating an account, submitting a registration, purchasing a product or service, or otherwise interacting with United States Service Dogs, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with these Terms, please do not use our website or Services.

1. Acceptance of These Terms

These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and United States Service Dogs (“United States Service Dogs,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).

We may update or modify these Terms from time to time to reflect changes to our Services, business practices, applicable requirements, or other circumstances. When changes are made, the updated version will be posted on this page with a revised “Last Updated” date.

Your continued use of our website or Services after changes are posted constitutes your acknowledgment of the updated Terms to the extent permitted by applicable law.

  • Other products, resources, or services made available through our website.

Services, products, pricing, availability, and features may change at any time.

3. Registration Is Voluntary

Any registration offered through United States Service Dogs is voluntary. Registration, identification cards, certificates, tags, vests, or other materials purchased or obtained through our website do not independently create, establish, certify, or guarantee legal status as a service animal, emotional support animal, or assistance animal.

United States Service Dogs is not a federal, state, or local government agency and does not operate an official government service-animal registry. You are responsible for understanding and complying with all federal, state, and local laws that may apply to you, your animal, and your particular circumstances.

4. Service Animal Responsibilities

If you register an animal as a service dog or service animal, you represent that the animal meets the applicable legal requirements for the status you are claiming.

Under applicable federal law, a service animal generally must be a dog that has been individually trained to perform work or tasks directly related to an individual’s disability. Emotional comfort or companionship alone does not establish service-animal status under the ADA.

You agree not to use our registration services, identification materials, or products to misrepresent an animal as a service animal or to obtain access, accommodations, privileges, or benefits to which you are not legally entitled. You are solely responsible for the care, supervision, behavior, training, and legal use of your animal.

5. Emotional Support Animals

An emotional support animal may provide comfort or emotional support to an individual with a disability-related need. The legal rights and requirements applicable to emotional support animals may differ from those applicable to service animals and may vary depending on the situation and applicable law.

Registration or identification through United States Service Dogs does not independently establish a disability-related need for an emotional support animal and does not guarantee housing, travel, public-access, or other accommodations. Where documentation from a qualified licensed professional is required, you are responsible for obtaining and maintaining appropriate documentation.

6. Educational Information and Legal Information

Information provided through our website is intended for general educational and informational purposes. Although we strive to provide useful and accurate information, laws and regulations concerning service animals, emotional support animals, housing, transportation, public access, and other related matters may change.

Information on our website should not be considered legal advice, medical advice, mental health advice, or a substitute for advice from a qualified attorney, healthcare professional, licensed mental health professional, government agency, or other appropriate professional. You are responsible for determining which laws and requirements apply to your individual circumstances.

7. Professional Evaluations and Letters

Where our website provides information or access to resources concerning ESA or psychiatric service animal evaluations or letters, any medical or mental health evaluation must be conducted by the appropriately licensed professional responsible for that evaluation.

United States Service Dogs does not control a licensed professional’s independent clinical judgment, diagnosis, recommendations, or determination. The availability of an evaluation or letter does not guarantee that a professional will approve a request or issue documentation. A request may be declined when the professional determines that the applicable requirements have not been met.

8. User Registration Information

When registering, creating an account, placing an order, or submitting information through our website, you agree to provide information that is accurate, complete, and current. You agree not to provide false, misleading, fraudulent, or incomplete information.

You are responsible for reviewing information submitted through our website and promptly correcting information that is inaccurate or no longer current. We reserve the right to suspend, restrict, or terminate access to our Services when we reasonably believe that information has been falsified, misrepresented, used fraudulently, or submitted in violation of these Terms.

We do not control and are not responsible for the content, availability, policies, security, products, services, or practices of third-party websites. Your use of a third-party service may be subject to that provider’s own terms and privacy policy.

16. Indemnification

To the extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless United States Service Dogs and its owners, affiliates, employees, contractors, service providers, and partners from claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and reasonable expenses arising out of:

  • Your violation of these Terms;
  • Your violation of applicable law;
  • Your misuse of our website or Services;
  • Your fraudulent or misleading representations concerning an animal;

We may also restrict access when necessary to protect our website, customers, employees, service providers, or other individuals. Termination or suspension does not eliminate obligations that, by their nature, should continue after termination.

If any provision of these Terms is determined to be invalid, unlawful, or unenforceable, that provision will be interpreted or modified to the extent necessary to make it enforceable, if legally permitted. The remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.

20. No Waiver

Our failure to enforce any provision of these Terms does not constitute a waiver of our right to enforce that provision or any other provision in the future.

21. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and any other policies expressly incorporated into these Terms, constitute the agreement governing your use of our website and Services, except where additional terms expressly apply to a particular product or service.

22. Governing Law

These Terms will be governed by applicable law, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except to the extent that applicable law requires otherwise.
